So great. After he ran this race, my teammates and I were so excited for him and American distance running. One of my teammates said, "I feel like I just ran a PR."

Incredible performance + great commentating = nearly brought me to tears (and I've seen this video like three times)

yeah i agree with mrs. doubtfire in terms of jenny b. But i think her xc nationals race could've easily been the jaw dropper of the year (my jaw certainly dropped). But then i can also understand why it wouldn't be because that race is probably not something she'd want to have dug up again.

Dude ur not even a standout runner for how much you run. Maybe you should consider lowering the mileage and mayb you will get a little faster. I could see were you would do that kinda mileage if you were suceeding but your not. Just some advice.

I interviewed Jordan last night, so there's no need to post more questions for her. BUT keep letting me know who you want me to interview in 2010!

You know I am a fan but I do have an observation; Why are most of the "of the years" MEN? I think Jenny B could have been jaw droper-PRE or even breakthru. Maybe you should have male and female superlatives. Just a thought.

I'll give Jason a break with the shaky camera (he's Jenny's fiancee'). The single most impressive thing in this video is who she was running against. Obviously Sally Kipyego, but also it looked like Erin Bedell early on too. Both are premo runners. Wow.

Let’s look at Jenny Barringer’s list of records from Beijing to present.

17 Aug 2008 Beijing, China ……….. Steeplechase 9:22.26 American Record
14 Feb 2009 Seattle, Washington …. 5000 meter 15:01.70 NCAA Record
28 Feb 2009 College Station, Texas . Mile (indoor) 4:25.91 NCAA Record
14 Mar 2009 College Station, Texas . 3000 meter (indoor) 8:42.03 NCAA Record
07 Jun 2009 Eugene, Oregon ……… 1500 meter (outdoor) 3:59.90 NCAA Record
12 Jun 2009 Fayetteville, Arkansas .. Steeplechase 9:25.54 NCAA Record
17 Aug 2009 Berlin, Germany ……... Steeplechase 9:12.50p American Record
Now I've been around a pretty long time following the sport and I can't think of anyone, ever, who has pasted that many records up on the board in a year (from 17 Aug 2008 - 17 Aug 2009). That, to me, is "jaw dropping". If you want to pick one race out for the sake of a presentation video, I suggest her 1500 meter race at U of Oregon. She lost to Ethiopia's Olympian Galete Burka by .01 but became the first NCAA runner and youngest American (22) to dip under 4 minutes.
On a personal note, when Jenny collapsed on the Indiana State course I just flashed all of these races back in my mind and accepted the fact she's been going for a solid year, with little or no rest. I think most everyone in the running community realized that. Like the "never quit" athlete she is, she got up and finished the race. But everyone realized and accepted the fact it was time for her to sit down and take some time off. Stunning year for Jen, from China to Berlin, and America rewarded her with a fitting tribute, the first Bowerman Award ever.

I would have to say that dathans american record in the 5000m would be my opinion on the biggest jaw dropper along with being the most inspirational.

okay, sorry didn't make it clear, i ment just to be mentioned, not named for jaw droping performance... and i know it is for 2009, i was talking about the 2008 video.....in the 3rd video ryan talks about beijing and he mentions athletes like usain bolt, flanaghan, and others, but doesn't mention kenenisa...thats what i was talking about, and yes german's performance was sick, im a big fan of this guy and im sure he will be something special on a pro level...sorry for the mis understanding...
