The 60K is close to the NYC Marathon that you just ran, so you need to make certain that you have recovered. If you are really determined to run the 60K, go extra slow for the first half of the race. I would suggest that you take your average marathon pace and run at least 60 seconds slower per mile -- maybe even 90 seconds slower.

My family and I have always driven Volvo 240s. Two of my best friends also have these cars and they are nothing short of awesome. They never break down and they run forever. They were manufactured from 1984-1993 -- talk about a time tested design! The 4-cylinder models (not the turbo-brick models) get between 20 and 25 mpg and a low-mileage (under 100k miles) great condition car won't set you back more than $2.5k. That's cheaper than a 15" macbook pro. And if you get the wagon, you can flip down the seats and nap in the back...

go to http://www.flocasts.com and explore a little. Flocast is the parent company and there are many different sports such as track, gymnastics, wrestling, sailing, etc. and each has a head guy(track has ryan) and they are the guys who go around doing it. mark and his brother are in charge of the administration and ideas and website maintenance, etc. but definitely explore flocasts, its pretty cool

i love my mazda protege5. they were only made 02 and 03 but one of those could be right up your price ally. great car. nice cargo area seats 5 comfortably, like 28/32 city/highway mileage. but at the same time its a really fun car to drive. its got good zip and it handles really well. nice tight suspension. i would definately take a look at one of those

I'm thinking a DODGE STRATUS! Or forget a car and just get a Vespa and cruise across the country with an eskimo jacket on for the cold months then great wind AC for the hotter months. Pretty viable option for for old TEXAS.

Mark has been outed as the head of the organization... Pretty soon we'll be logging in to "FenTrack" for all our running videos. Or you could be a loser and go to Runnerspace.

Actually no, my guess is as the "main guy" his role is to be in charge of administrative stuff... and he's probs just burnt out from doing interviews/traveling 24/7 for the last couple years. He picks his battles and goes to the events he's really passionate about and otherwise does a lot of contacting for setting up interviews and scheduling where the FloNetwork will appear next. At the end of the day, FloTrack started off pretty small with a big vision, and now that its fulfilled some of that vision it needs its creator to step up to bigger "behind the scenes" roles and take a backseat to the limelight of interviews and having his image out there on videos/blogs all the time.
Either that or FloTrack is shutting down at the end of the year.
Or Ryan killed Mark, and this actually will all eventually become "FenTrack".
Just guessin
Oh, and get a 1998 Ford Taurus. Nothin attracts the running ladies like a Mighty Taurus.

Anyone have any suggestions on getting a car? Not a new one and budget around $5k.....my car was totaled driving to NCAAs in June so finally have to get a new one and insurance stuff is now going through. any suggestions would help. i've always had an accord type car but am up for something new. let me know if you have any ideas or know anything in the Austin area

I stumbled across this website at the end of the summer and though everyone should see it. Maybe you've seen it already but if not, you need to check it out. Track stats galore! World record progressions, all-time lists from every country and a lot of haven't even checked out. I was a track stat junkie in high school so I am sure some of you will enjoy this!

2009 Brooks ISU PreNats | Results
Men:  The two best freshman from last year's NCAA Championships, Luke Puskedra and Chris Derrick, show the country that their success was no fluke last year as the each win the Blue and White races respectively.  Both led their teams to victory and make the argument even more difficult as to who is the best team in the country.  Both teams won relatively easily, with Stanford looking the stronger of the two.  Surprises: Chris Derrick over Sam Chelanga, fastest time of the day 23:27 and one of only a handful to run faster than last year (23:37). Also, Washington St finishing 7th in the Blue Race, just behind Auburn.  Room for Improvement: NAU with a good McNeill; New Mexico (Fraser is a sub 13:40 guy who finished 95th); Colorado (Kyle and Neuman only finished around 30th).

Women: The fastest collegiate woman of all-time, Jenny B, runs the fastest time of the day by 30 seconds in the Blue Race and leads the Buffs to the victory.  Susan Kuijken chills to help FSU finish 2nd overall and boost their ranking back up.  Angela Bizzarri makes up a 19 second deficit at 3k to take down Kendra Schaaf, while Washington continues to dominate with 3 in the top 5 (and they left two of their top 5 at home!).  Megan Duwell continues to run well for Minnesota and Jordan Hasay goes from 7th to 3rd in the final 400 meters!  After Barringers and Kuijken, the young Hasay looks pretty good.  Surprises: Colorado winning team title, frosh Allie McLaughlin their #2; Florida women look very strong finishing 2nd (but only have 5).  Room for Improvement: Oregon (Kosinski finishes 77th, was 8th at NCAAs a year ago); Illinois - if they find a 5th runner they are very good; Iowa State (Saina and Kemmey are better than what they showed); Stanford - 4th and 5th runners fell off.

Penn State National Meet  Results - Men | Women

Course moved on race day due to 8 inches of snow in Happy Valley.  West Virginia women are dominant, Penn State looks good as both pick up potential points by beating Providence.

UVA Panorama Farms Invite  Results - Men | Women
Men: UVA sails under the radar as they beat Syracuse and Villanova.  The Cavaliers look strong through 5 but need to fill the gap that follows.  Syracuse has only 25 seconds between 1 and 8.  Women: Villanova dominates finishings 1-2-3-4-7, with the first 4 ALL breaking Susan Kuijken's course record.  Its hard to believe anyone beating Washington, but Villanova seems to be a clear #2.

Chile Pepper Invite  Results - Men | Women
Men: First sighting of German Fernandez and Ryan Vail!  And Oklahoma State goes 1-2-3....with German finishing 11th!  Colby Lowe wins and Dorian Ulrey leads Arkansas at 4th.  Footlocker Champ, Solomon Haile, sits this one out. Oklahoma men finish 2nd to in-state rival OSU.  Women: Texas Tech runs strong finishing 1-3-4-6 as they may be the most under ranked team in the country.
