Bayer, Blanchard and Ehrman Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana distance runners Andy Bayer, Chelsea Blanchard and Breanne Ehrman have been named CoSIDA Academic All-District, the organization of sports information directors announced. The honor is the first step in earning Academic All-America honors. Bayer (3.60, Biology) and Blanchard (3.97, Visual Arts Education) both earned Academic All-America honors a year ago, while Ehrman (3.98, Elementary Education) earned first team All-District honors last year as well.

Indiana track and field director and head coach Ron Helmer said that having athletes earn awards that honor both aspects of being a student-athlete are very rewarding in that they show the program is accomplishing its goals.

“We encourage our student-athletes to embrace the opportunity to thrive both in competition and in the classroom,” said Helmer. “To maintain a high-level GPA while also excelling on the track is an impressive accomplishment.
