LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
University of Louisville track and field$B!G(Bs Holly Knight has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Track and Field Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America
announced Thursday.
The Academic All$B!>(BDistrict
honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All$B!>(BAmerica Team ballot, where first$B!>(B,
second- and third$B!>(Bteam All$B!>(BAmerica
honorees will be selected in June. The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographical districts across the United States and Canada.
Knight, who is working toward her doctorate in psychology, boasts a 3.93 grade-point average through her first year of coursework, while earning Dean$B!G(Bs List accolades in
the fall and spring semesters. She received her bachelor$B!G(Bs degree in psychology at Auburn, where she finished with a 3.96 GPA.
This year, she has broken the school$B!G(Bs 17-year-old indoor record in the 5,000m, clocking a time of 16:24.70. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, she helped the women$B!G(Bs
team win its fifth-straight league title, while placing third in the 5,000m and 10,000m events. At the meet, she broke the 17-year-old outdoor record in the 5,000m (16:26.07). Earlier this season, she also set the school$B!G(Bs 10,000m mark with a time of 33:08.99
that ranks second in the region and 10th nationally.
Next week, Knight and five other Cardinals will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Competition in Des Moines, Iowa, at Drake Stadium is scheduled
to take place June 6-9.
