1. It was not the best day for American middle distance superstars Matt Centrowitz and Leo Manzano who both finished last in their heats of the 800 and the mile.  Centro ran a time of 1:48.42 in his heat of the men's 800 while Manzano came through in last place in the men's mile with a time of 4:00.

2. It was a rare occasion today to see World Champion Sally
Pearson get beat in the women's 100m hurdles. After winning 15 of her 16 races last year and being unbeaten in 2012, Pearson was edged out at the line by Kellie Wells who won in a time of 12.57.  Wells is just coming off of a second place finish at the Trials where she ran a time of 12.77.

3. 2008 Olympic Champion Christine Ohuruogu had a great performance at home in the women's 400 meters, winning the race in a season's best of 50.42.  She also beat 2011 World Champion Amantle Montsho who trailed behind her in a 50.56.

4. The triple jump was dominated today by 2011 World Champ Christian Taylor who jumped 17.41.  Taylor is looking ready to go after his world leading jump of 17.63 at the Trials in Eugene.  One surprise in the event was World Silver medalist Phillips Idowu not competing.  We are unsure whether it was because of injury or not.

5. Some big personal and season bests in the women's steeplechase were hit by Ancuta Bobocel, Bridget Franek, Katarzyna Kowalska, and Ashley Higginson.  Bobocel won the race in a personal best of 9:27.24 while Franek trailed behind her in fourth place with a personal best of 9:29.53.
