Virginia Track and Field Squads Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

11 individual Cavaliers honored on All-Academic lists

NEW ORLEANS—The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field programs have been named All-Academic teams by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced Thursday (July 26).

The two teams were honored for having cumulative GPAs over 3.00 with the men having a 3.04 and the women earning a 3.01. 171 womenÂ’s programs and 85 menÂ’s teams around the country received the distinction.

In addition, 11 Cavaliers have earned USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic honors, including Mark Amirault, Kevin Anding, Anna Corrigan, Chris Foley, Taylor Gilland, Abbey Karin, Sean Keveren, Thomas Porter, Marcus Robinson, Kathleen Stevens and Catherine White.

All 11 were named All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic honorees in at least one of the track and field seasons, including Anding, who was listed during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Amirault, Corrigan, Foley, Gilland and Porter were named to the indoor All-ACC Academic squad, while Karin, Keveren, Robinson, Stevens and White were recognized on the outdoor squad.

Robinson was a USTFCCCA First-Team All-American in both seasons, while White (second team), Keveren (honorable mention) and Stevens (honorable mention) were named All-Americans during the outdoor campaign. Corrigan was named a Capital One Academic All-American in June.

Amirault, an All-American during the cross country season, was also listed on the USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic Team in the fall. Anding, Corrigan and Foley were named to the track and field All-Academic squad for the second consecutive year.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met one of two athletic standards. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA performance list. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
