Virginia Competes in Wisconsin adidas Invitational Friday
WomenÂÂs race will see 20 ranked teams compete, menÂÂs race to feature 19 ranked squads
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.ÂÂThe Virginia menÂÂs and womenÂÂs cross country teams head to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Friday (Oct. 12) at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course. The womenÂÂs 6K race will begin at 1 p.m., while the menÂÂs 8K run is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. ET.
On the menÂÂs side, the No. 29 Cavaliers are one of 19 ranked teams competing in the 46-school field, while the women, ranked No. 6 in the latest USTFCCCA Southeast Region poll, will be in action against 20 nationally-ranked squads and 48 schools in total.
Last time out, the Cavaliers hosted the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 22, where both teams finished third. The men were led by graduate transfer Zach Gates (Fishers, Ind.), who placed fourth, while senior Sean Keveren (Brentwood, Tenn.) finished seventh overall. Graduate student Catherine White (Roanoke, Va.) led the women, crossing the line in second overall.
Gates and White were named the Atlantic Coast Conference MenÂÂs and WomenÂÂs Cross Country Performers of the Week for their efforts.
Up next, the Cavaliers will compete at the 2012 ACC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 27 in Blacksburg, Va.
