Jenny Simpson to Return to Wetmore, Boulder
Jenny Simpson is going back to her roots in Boulder, CO where she’ll be coached under Mark Wetmore and Heather Burroughs.

Simpson enjoyed one of the most successful collegiate running careers while at the University of Colorado. Under Wetmore, Simpson (then Barringer) ran school records at 800m (2:02.56), 1500m (3:59.90), 3000m steeplechase (9:12.50), and 5000m (15:05.25).

Her performances went beyond the halls of the University of Colorado. Her 1500m run was a collegiate record and is the fifth fastest time ever run by an American while her 3000m steeplechase remains as the U.S. national record.

After graduating, she chose Air Force Academy coach Juli Benson to continue her running career. Under Benson, Simpson won the mile and 3000m at the 2011 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships and capped her season off with a gold medal at the 2011 World Championships in the 1500m.

In 2012, she defended her two indoor titles, took third in the U.S. Olympic Trials 1500m, and was eliminated in the semifinal of the 2012 Olympic 1500m.
