Jacob Thomson Says No to Oregon, Joins The Pack

Jacob Thomson
of Holy Cross High School in Kentucky announced his decision to commit to running for the North Carolina State Wolf Pack in 2013. Thomson wrapped up a cross-country season where he finished fifth overall at the 2012 Footlocker Cross-Country Nationals.

The Wolfpack finished 26th at NCAA Cross-Country National Championship and will welcome him to their recruiting class that already includes Nick Link of Virginia and Bakri Abushouk of North Carolina. Yet, Thomson is the only one with two years of All-American honors and two Class-A Kentucky State titles on his resume.

Before leaving for Raleigh, Thomson will look to set his school’s 800-meter record during outdoor season. That appears to be the race in which his name is not listed as the record holder in distances from 1,500-meters to 5,000-meters.

Most recently, Thomson finished 12th overall at the BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross-Country Invitational’s Junior 6,000-meter race (19:37). He helped the United States finish second overall for his age group.
