Sanya Richards-Ross returns to the track for the first time since the 2012 Olympic Games in London headlining the 2013 Adidas Grand Prix’s 400-meter dash.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist underwent toe surgery in September with an expected recovery time of two-months. It would not be until three weeks before her first race that she would step on the track for her first workout.

First time she spiked up? Wednesday.

Most of her workouts consisted of training on the Alter-G treadmill for approximately an hour to improve on endurance. Speed training took a hit with the injury.

“I feel really strong in my training, but my speed isn’t all the way back to where I want it to be,” Richards-Ross said. “(It’s) mostly because I can’t push off that big toe exactly the way I want to, but my coach and I think that’s the easiest part to get back.”

Richards-Ross admitted she may not be at 100 percent, but if she can run in the 50.00 range, the confidence will be there heading into US Championships in Des Moines.

This is far from the end of the road for Richards-Ross. She does not plan on retiring until after the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, yet her plan for her life afterwards is already taking shape.

“I definitely going to go forth through Rio and then I’m going to start having babies for my honey,” Richards-Ross said. “I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go past 2012 or not, but now I know for sure.”

Her relationship with New York Giants cornerback Aaron Ross becomes more public on July 25 as her reality television show “Glam and Gold” will debuts on WE TV.
