Here’s a sneak peak at Saucony’s new sprint spike called the Showdown. This spike features an all new 10-pin Pebax® plate specifically designed for the torque and power that sprinters generate. The upper is a combination of two layers. The outer layer is made from a supple microfiber synthetic that securely locks the foot in place, while the inner sleeve and lacing allows for a more comfortable and customizable fit. The boys in Lexington tell me they’ve sampled a bunch of colorways for Wallace Spearmon Jr. and Lauryn Williams, so make sure to check them out on the track to see what they’ll wear next.

We got in some of the new Shay XC's and there were probably the ugliest colors I've ever seen on a shoe.

I think the new Shay XC 2 colors are awesome. I just saw them in Eastbay. They are actually more wearable than the new XC Nike colors which are crazy (not in a good way). These Showdown colors are cool, but I would like to see a red one too.

If Wallace has a bunch of different colors, will Flotrack or Saucony add the images to this post so we can see them? that would be awesome!
ps.I agree...call it Flocus...make it happen.

I'd like to be a part of the focus group. We got in some of the new Shay XC's and there were probably the ugliest colors I've ever seen on a shoe. I'd love to help out another American brand move to the front.

I have not raced on the track in many years and I haven't worn spikes in more years than I can remember, but the spikes look like they are very stiff and not very flexible.

They aren't meant to be flexible, they're sprinting spikes

Wallace Spearmon is easily my favorite sprinter because we both have terrible starts and come back.

When I heard Wallace was being signed by Saucony I was excited because I knew they would treat him right.
That being said, these shoes are awesome, all the colors shown are great and I will defiantly be getting my hands on a pair of these when I can.

Yeah, the black ones are sweet. Agree, a red one would be cool. The more colors the better, since you can find ones that go well with your uniform. The White ones would go with pretty much any uni, tho

In Brasschaat Lauryn Williams ran on a black/orange spike. That vizipro-look was pretty awesome. The blue ones are the best form the above pictured. The black and white are pretty standard.

If you aren't sure these are sprinting spikes lol. The blue ones are my personal favorite because Nike has the Powercat in the white colorway already. I'm pretty sure the plate is a combo of the original superfly and current superfly plate; not the celar. It has 10 pins like the original (I might actually have 11 which is the legal limit) but placed similarly to the current version. The 10 spikes force you to go on your toes to make running on your toes easier. The full length plate is contoured to provide an extra "spring to your step" if you will while your sprinting to make sure you maintain your form.. This is for a true power sprinter. If you like relaxed spikes like the Celar, Maxcat, Powersprint, these may be to aggressive for you. I trained in Monsterfly's, Superfly's, Powercat's , etc. since freshman year so if you have as well your calves should handle this spike. It seems as thought the double upper may add weight but if you're a true sprinter, you wouldn't mind this. The double upper looks as if it provides superb lockdown similar to the shrouded Superfly P+ from back in the day. This is a great addition to the Saucony line up and will most certainly widen their fan base.

yeah, would love to try those for a 400, wondering if they are really meant for 100/200. Really get you up on your toes

okay these spikes are isnane i run the 400 and the 200 and i run the 400 in 49.9 and the 200 in 22.9 so i cant wiat to try these on and see how i run. they look sick and tehy will deffiently be my next shoes i have super fly d2's and they are nasty and im in 11th grade going into 12th. i cant wait to wear these. and the kid that said anything about xc is an idiot these shoes clearly max out at 400

It's a modified Nike Superfly plate (lots of other companies have basically copied it as well). The Superfly plate has 8 pins in rows of 3,3,2 while this one has 4,3,1?,2. The Celar is a completely different plate than this, a bit more flexible while this one has more rigidity. It does have a similar shroud/zippered upper though.

im so upset...these are really cool flats...but they have plastic bottoms...so a cross country runner like me cant were them because if it rains they will be to slippery!

there sprinter shoes and since there is no sprinting xc there is no reason for the rubber bottoms...it doesnt matter if it rains because they probbably max out at 400m meanwhile your running a 5k. (its called vic xc's)

They look cool, but my thing is what is different about the spike other than the appearance? What does having 10 spikes do for speed. stability etc? I'm susceptable to looks as the next guy however what's the tech specs? That's what will make me want to buy them.

They look great, but as Jane said what about other colors that are available? Seems like most of the new spikes are going for eye catching looks with color more than anything else.

Spike plate is ridiculous, talk about having claws on your feet for sure.

They look almost like a carbon copy of the Nike Zoom Powercats. So the question for me now becomes why would I buy an imitation when I could get the proven originals instead?
