Wallace Spearmon Officially Added to Team USA
Sprinter Wallace Spearmon has officially been added to the United States national team headed to Moscow for the IAAF World Championships held from August 10 to 18. The 2005 silver medalist and two-time bronze medalist (2007 and 2009) replaces Tyson Gay as the third member of the U.S. 200-meter dash squad.

On Wednesday afternoon, Spearmon's agent Ray Flynn announced the team selection on Twitter.

Gay withdrew his name from competition in Moscow after testing positive for a performance enhancing drug on July 15. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency still awaits the results of a "B" sample taken from an out-of-competion test on May 16.

Spearmon finished fourth at the U.S. Track and Field Championships on June 23, where he ran 20.10 in the 200-meter final. He joins Isiah Young and Curtis Mitchell as the top finishers from Des Moines.

At last year's Summer Olympic Games, Spearmon also finished fourth in Olympic final in 19.90. Spearmon returns to London's Olympic Stadium to race the men's 200-meter dash on Friday night for a rematch against bronze medalist Warren Weir. His last race was in Luzern, where he finished fifth with a time of 20.68.
