NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -  The New Jersey New York Track Club has announced that Robby Andrews has joined the club.  Andrews, a two time NCAA champion while at the University of Virginia, is sponsored by adidas.

Andrews will continue his career where it began; in New Jersey. Andrews is a 2009 graduate of Manalapan High School in Englishtown, N.J.  While in high school Andrews set national indoor records in the 800m (1:49.21) and 1000m (2:22.28) and outdoors ran 1:48.66 in the 800m and 4:03.49 in the 1 mile.  As a freshmen at the University of Virginia Andrews won the NCAA Indoor 800m out leaning Olympian Andrew Wheating and then outdoors anchored Virginia's 4x800m relay team to the Penn Relays Championship of America title.  As a sophomore Andrews won the NCAA Outdoor 800m title running 1:44.71, just .01 off the NCAA meet record.

During his junior year he signed a professional contract with adidas.  Since that time he has been coached by Jason Vigilante, his coach during his two years at Virginia.   In 2013 he moved from Charlottesville  back to New Jersey and served as a volunteer assistant coach at Princeton University under Vigilante for the 2013 indoor and outdoor seasons.  After a sub-par outdoor season Andrews was diagnosed with a ruptured hernia and underwent  surgery in July.

"It is with great privilege that I can announce I will be running for Coach Gagliano and the NJ*NY Track Club," stated Andrews. "There have been so many great additions to the already impressive group, it is going to be an extremely competitive environment that I see myself and teammates thriving in. To be working with the Godfather himself is a humbling experience; what he has done over the course of his highly successful career makes me very confident that together we will achieve the goals we have set.

I was at a crossroads when coming to this decision, leaving my college coach Jason Vigilante, was not an easy decision. I have great respect for Vig and value him as a true friend. I would not have achieved the successes I had without his coaching and guidance. He is an excellent coach and I look forward to following the success of his Princeton teams."

"We are extremely happy to welcome Robby to the club today," offered head coach and club founder Frank Gagliano.  "I have watched Robby from his days as a high schooler at Manalapan.  Coach Vigilante has done a tremendous job with Robby. We look forward to continue developing Robby over the next 3 years.  We will prepare Robby to be ready to compete with all the great  middle distance runners nationally and internationally."

Andrews will enjoy training with a strong group of middle and long distance runners that includes Liam Boylan-Pett, Russell Brown, Donn Cabral, Tevan Everett, Brian Gagnon, Christian Gonzalez, Travis Mahoney, Kyle Merber, Mike Rutt, Christian Thompson, and Sadiki White.
