(25-Sep) -- Former North Carolina State star Ryan Hill will be moving from Raleigh, N.C., to Portland, Ore., where he will be coached by Jerry Schumacher out of Nike's Beaverton campus.  Hill, 23, who wore light blue Nike kit at last Sunday's Fifth Avenue Mile in New York where he finished fourth, was coached throughout his collegiate career by Rollie Geiger.

"We are thrilled to have Ryan joining our team," said Schumacher through a statement provided by Hill's management company, Flynn Sports Management.  "He is one of the top young talents in the United States and has an exciting future in the sport. We are looking forward to building upon the strong foundation he developed at N.C. State."

Hill was a 10-time All American at N.C. State, and was the Atlantic Coast Conference indoor mile champion in 2013.  He had a breakthrough season in 2013, finishing third at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships last June in the 5000m, qualifying for the IAAF World Championships where he finished 10th in the same event.  He set personal bests this season of 2:20.26 for 1000m, 3:54.89 for the indoor mile, 7:42.32 for 3000m, and 13:14.22 for 5000m.

"Coach Geiger always believed in me and having that influence was critical to my success," said Hill in a statement.  "I am excited to start my professional career as a Nike athlete under Coach Schumacher. It is my belief that with hard work, Nike's resources, and coach Schumacher's amazing track record with his athletes, I can take my racing to the next level."

Other athletes already training under Schumacher include Andy Bumbalough, Shalane Flanagan, Chris Solinsky, Matt Tegenkamp, Dan Huling, Evan Jager, Lopez Lomong, Emily Infeld, Kara Goucher, and Alan Webb.
