Rehabbing David Rudisha loses a race in Ireland

800-meter world record holder David Rudisha was unable to defend his crown at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow due to a knee injury that ended his season earlier in the summer. In September, Brother Colm O’Connell updated everyone on Rudisha’s recovery saying the Olympic champion did not run for three months and will not return to training until December. The Irish Times reported that Rudisha has been limited to “stationary cycling or a gentle swim” in his return.

The two visited Ireland as O’Connell received a degree from Dublin City University and Rudisha served as a representative for the North Pole Marathon sponsored Galway Kenya Run, which took place on Sept. 14.

In this newly surfaced video, Rudisha is seen racing against two kids in a classroom while wearing jeans and his adidas trainers. In the race lasting 13 seconds, Rudisha finishes third behind the Irish girl and boy.

"These guys are fast," Rudisha says after the loss.
