The ING New York City Marathon race organizers have announced that professional runners Julie Culley, Adriana Da Silva and German Silva have withdrawn from the Nov. 3 race due to injuries.
Culley was a finalist at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London over 5,000-meters. The 32-year-old was planning on making her marathon debut at the 2012 New York City Marathon prior to its cancellation due to Hurricane Sandy. The New Jersey native’s debut will be put on hold yet again.#INGNYCM NEWS: ING NYC Marathon pros @julieculley, Adriana Da Silva & @corredorreal withdraw due to injuries. Healthy recoveries to all.

Da Silva finished ninth at the 2012 Tokyo Marathon, where she ran a personal best of 2:29:17 and then represented Brazil at the Olympics. Earlier this year, Da Silva ran the New York City Half in 1:13:56 and the Buenos Aires Half-Marathon in 1:14:19. She spent her summer setting personal bests on the track in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs as part of her marathon training.
Silva won the 1995 and 1997 New York City Marathons. Yesterday, Silva tweeted that he was on crutches, but would still be traveling to The Big Apple. The 1993 World Championship finalist still runs at 45 years old.
