(29-Oct) -- Earlier today, organizers of the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler announced the elite athlete fields for Sunday's inaugural race in Pennsylvania's second largest city.

Headlining the men's field are a group of American road racing veterans, including Ben Bruce, Brent Vaughn, Fernando Cabada, and Andrew Carlson. Also entered are Carlson's Team USA Minnesota teammates Jon Peterson and Jon Grey, as well as Hansons-Brooks Distance Project member Brendan Gregg. International men set to toe the line are Julius Kogo and Reuben Limaa of Kenya, Andrew Lemoncello of Great Britain, and Ethiopia's Diriba Degefa Yigezu.

On the women's side, Ethiopia's Askale Merachi and Genet Getaneh, Poland's Karolina Jarzynska, and Kenya's Ogla Kimaiyo are entered. Merachi has seen success in the Keystone state before, winning the Blue Cross Broad Street Run 10 Mile in Philadelphia on May 5. Her winning time was 53:46.

Addie Bracy and Lindsey Scherf lead the American women contingent.

"Our inaugural race has attracted a world-class field of runners," said Patrice Matamoros, Chief Executive Officer of Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc., in a statement. "This race provides another opportunity to introduce Pittsburgh to the running community. With the top talent coming to the City of Champions, spectators should expect to see exciting, head-to-head competition on Sunday."

In its inaugural year, the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler will award $10,500 in prize money, including $2,500 to the men's and women's winner. An estimated 4,500 participants will run on a course that highlights some of the Steel City's neighborhoods, crossing four bridges before finishing at the EQT Headquarters. The event's sponsor, EQT Corporation, is a leading producer of natural gas in the region.
