Hello Flotrack, and Happy Friday. Mitch couldn't be here today so I'm filling in. He's most likely still celebrating the fall of the Indoor American 5k record at our local T.G.I Fridays. I'd like to tell you that this is a one time thing, however, that's where you'll find Mitch most Friday mornings, mouth full of loaded potato skins, American records notwithstanding.

And now, the "news"

If you haven't already heard, Galen Rupp shattered the Indoor American 5k record last night in Boston, shaving a whole six seconds off of Bernard Lagat Lopez Lomong's old record. Later that night, Rupp could be found at the local Holiday Inn, tucking himself into a coffin full of his native soil. That's a Dracula reference.

Though the pacing was miserable, Mary Cain managed to sneak under the 2:40 barrier to capture the World Junior Record. This sentence was supposed to be a zinger about curfew, or school cafeteria food not being Salazar-approved, but they all fell flat. So uh, hey, nice work.

Here's a pretty eye opening write up on the reality faced by many elite female athletes in regards to their looks holding more weight than their performances. And somewhere in America, Lolo Jones is recording her newest viral Vine video entitled "me me me me me."

Bowling has been an NCAA sport since 2004. I'm not sure triathlon was the next logical step, but hey, I like it.

If by "God," you mean "judge" and by "take care of everything," you mean "throw the book at him," then yes, yes he will.

The conference concluded with the NCAA committee members putting their hands in the center of the huddle and screaming "they're all puppets in our little game," before retiring to the penthouse suite.
