Isaac Wood joins Flotrack
As Flotrack continues to raise the bar in track and field media, we seek to add talented and passionate staff members that provide the public with engaging coverage and insight.

The team decided that we couldn't pass up the opportunity to bring on board a talent that has already been a tremendous asset to us as a part-time contributor. Flotrack is proud to announce that Isaac Wood is now our full-time senior analyst.

“This is an incredible addition to an already star-studded team,” said Flocasts CPO Mark Floreani. “This is one of the greatest free-agent signings since Shaquille O'Neal went to the Los Angeles Lakes in 1996.”

For newly engaged Wood, the position at Flotrack has been a culmination of following the sport for his entire life and contributing to several outlets when opportunities presented themselves.

“Working at Flotrack is the pinnacle job for any run junkie. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity,” Wood said.

Wood of North Salt Lake, UT will undertake a variety of functions for Flotrack. In addition to serving as our in-house high school, collegiate, and professional analyst where he will continue to publish his critically acclaimed event previews and weekly rankings, Wood will also be in the field producing track and field coverages around the world.

“I want to thank my family, friends, the team at Flocasts, and Doug Padilla for inspiring (more like forcing me) to start The Wood Report.”

Flotrack originally found Wood’s blog The Wood Report during the fall of 2012.

“We heard that coach Ed Eyestone's 'assistant' at BYU who was doing in-depth reports for the top 31 men’s teams in the NCAA... every week... for fun,” said Flotrack senior editor Mitch Kastoff. “We knew we wanted to bring him aboard as soon as possible.”

Aside from his extensive rankings and on-camera presence, Wood is known for his detailed championship previews and unworldly work ethic. His NCAA conference championship and NCAA regional previews led LetsRun.com to hire Wood to produce similar articles for the 2013 indoor season.

“Isaac told me that it took him a few hours to produce previews for six major indoor conferences,” said Flotrack lead producer Alex Lohr. “I don’t know if he sleeps, and if he does, I bet he dreams of track.”

This fall, Flotrack brought Wood on part-time to produce Flotrack's NCAA Cross Country Rankings. In addition to his analysis, Wood would score out the NCAA XC Championship every week to help better Flotrack's predictions.

Most importantly, the Flotrack recreational basketball team will get a boost. With the recent addition of Gordon Mack (6’3”) and now Wood (6’5”), the team’s frontcourt will finally be able to rebound.

“I can finally stop playing center,” said Flotrack site head Ryan Fenton. “Other than that, we’re happy we could add Isaac to our team. His passion, work ethic, and knowledge for the sport will help improve our coverage tenfold.”

“In case you want to stay in the middle, I can play point guard too,” Wood added.
