Pre-Season Pac-12 Men's XC Predictions

Flotrack's W
ay Way Way Too Far Out XC Picks a series devoted to getting you acquainted with some of the top teams for this upcoming XC season.

We here at Flotrack were so excited about Oregon's dominating performance at the Penn Relays 4 X Mile that it got us thinking. How good is Oregon going to be next year? Are they good enough to challenge Colorado? While on that note, we realized, the Pac-12 is going to be unreal next year.

WIth that on the table, I decided to simulate the conference meet based on the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships last year and NCAA Cross Country Championships.

According to my simulation, I have Colorado winning by seven points. To be honest, it's kind of an easy pick if you think about it. Colorado returns everyone from last year's NCAA Championship winning team, plus they add a healthy Jake Hurysz. It's almost unfair to the rest of the country how good Colorado is going to be.

We also cannot count out Oregon. Edward Cheserek has proven himself time and time again that he is the best in the NCAA right now and I don't see that changing, maybe ever.Throw in Eric Jenkins, Will Geoghegan, and high school phenom Blake Haney, and the Ducks will be dangerous.

Stanford will have a say in this as they add Maksim Korolev and a healthy Joe Rosa, who has been running out of his head since this past winter. Regardless of the speculation, the Pac-12 is going to be the hottest conference on the block next year and the battle at the Conference Championship will be legendary.
