The 2014 Flo Beer Mile World Championships
The 2014 Flo Beer Mile World Championships
Austin, TX
Immediate Release
If you thought there'd be no World Championships this year, you'd be wrong.
Flocasts has announced that it will hold the inaugural Flo Beer Mile World Championships this fall in Austin, TX. The event, which will consist of an elite men's and women's field, will officially crown the first Beer Mile World Champion.
"There has always been beer miles but there was never an outlet for the best to compete against each other," said Co-Founder Mark Floreani. "The first annual competition will finally determine the best in the world. There have been many beer miles run over the last 20 years on different tracks, with different beer, and in different conditions. This World Championship event will level the playing and drinking field.”
American Beer Mile Record holder and World Championship 800-meter silver medalist Nick Symmonds has already committed to the Flo Beer Mile World Championship.
"By the fall, I'll be in both peak running and drinking condition," Symmonds told Flotrack. "I'll look to cash in my fitness for not just the grand prize, but the world record."
Flocasts is offering a prize purse for the overall winners and if the men's or women's unofficial world record is broken. The unofficial men's mile record is 4:57.1 while the women's record stands at 6:42.0.
