Boys 400m Hurdles

52 seconds for 400 isn’t too shabby.  52 seconds for 400m while running over hurdles is incredible.  Rai Benjamin enters as the favorite, as he has run 52.25, faster than the meet record of 52.37.  Also in the field is Ronaldo Griffiths, only a freshman, who has run 53.28.

Girls 400m

Zola Golden is focused – she wants the meet record.  The national leader in the 400m, Golden chose to only run the 400m.   Her time of 52.82 is well under the State Meet Record (53.42).  The Arlington junior performed well the last time her race was live streamed, winning the Loucks Games in her PR.  Golden should be a show stopper as she looks to improve on her nation leading mark while setting a new State Meet Record.

Boys 3200m

We could see a new state record out of this one. Northport senior, Tim McGowan, ran 8:53.26 at the Loucks Games to come within a second of the state record (8:52.75).

Girls 4x800m

In an event like the 4x800m, competition is key to drive fast times--and New York has a lot of it. Suffern leads the way after running a quick 9:08.  They come in seeded a second over distance powerhouse, Fayetville-Manlius who ran 9:09 last week. Despite Mary Cain not competing for her high school, Bronxville still is well within the mix, having run 9:11 on the May 27th.

Boys 1600m

We normally would shy away from putting two distance races in something like this, but with a field like this, we had to. Multiple top athletes have chosen to solely focus on winning this title.  Leading the field is Mike Brannigan, one of the top juniors in the country.  He comes in having run 4:11 which leads a solid field that includes eight guys who have run under 4:15. Also in the field is Luke Gavigan, pictured, who was second indoors at New Balance Nationals.  He brings along some big meets experience, such as his Millrose Games victory(4:08 full mile) and the win at Penn Relays (4:13 full mile).

Don't miss these races and more.  Flotrack will be bringing it to you live starting at 1:30 ET on Friday.
