Pre Classic To Host Colossal Shot Put Competition

The city simply known as “TrackTown USA” will host the greatest shot put competition ever on American soil this spring at the 41st Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.

Five men who have won either Olympic or World Championship gold medals in the shot will compete in the IAAF Diamond League event May 29th, and they will be joined by three up and coming throwers who are ready to challenge the best in the world.

Americans Reese Hoffa, Ryan Whiting, and Christian Cantwell are the headliners for Team USA, as all three men have won at least two World Championship titles. Joining them in this prestigious field will be two-time defending World champion David Storl of Germany and two-time defending Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski of Poland. This colossal competition will be held under the lights on Friday night, an evening usually reserved solely for the traditional Distance Night held on the first of the two day meeting.
