World-class high jumper fueled by new technology and the hunt for her first Olympic medal in Rio

PR NEWSWIRE | Austin, TX | February 2, 2015 – Amy Acuff, the five-time Olympic high jumper and recognized national track and field champion, has announced her intentions to compete for a spot on the 2016 US Olympic track and field team in Rio. Acuff is breaking barriers, and if she makes the team, will be 42 years old while competing in the summer games next year.

Beyond her athletic achievements, she has achieved success as a tech developer and entrepreneur. After making every World Championship and Olympic team from 1995 to 2009, Acuff founded a company called Winning Edge Apps. With the huge growth of smart phones and tablets in the marketplace, she created a groundbreaking series of video analysis and instructional track and field applications available through the Apple App Store.

“Ten years ago my competitors started calling me grandma, but as athletes, our perceptions of our bodies’ expiration dates are changing,” said Acuff. With a best showing of fourth place in Athens 2004, Acuff stated, “I won the potato medal, but I would really enjoy a top 3 finish. The technology I’ve developed has allowed me to clearly focus on execution and recapturing great performances.”

Today marks her company’s release of a new sports video analysis app called Winning Edge. “Being so obsessed with improving technique and performance for so many years, I designed this app for other athletes striving for excellence at all levels” added Acuff. “While the app is free, it raises the bar on features and benefits when compared to paid offerings from competing solutions. I hope every athlete with an iPhone or iPad will use Winning Edge to find extraordinary results in their sport” added Acuff. “I wouldn’t be competing for a spot in Rio without it.”

Winning Edge is available in the Apple App Store for download here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/winning-edge/id958737258?mt=8
