1. Mike Rodgers Runs 7th Fastest 100m in 2015

After a decent showing in the prelims, Mike Rodgers ran fast when it counted, recording a 9.88 wind legal time in the 100m final, edging out Andrew Fisher of Jamaica who ran 9.94. Rodgers, who finished 3rd at the USA championships just a few weeks ago is looking fit heading into the World championships. 9.88 is a seasonal best for Rodgers and the seventh fastest time of 2015.


2. Amel Tuka Pays Tribute After 1:43 Bosnia National Record

Amel Tuka came sprinting down the final 100 with purpose as he snuck past Antoine Gakeme of Burundi and the Kenyan Job Koech Kinyor to take the win in the men’s 800. Tuka’s national record time of 1:43.84 came on a special day as well. 20 years ago today marks the first day of the Bosnian Genocide. Tuka wrote “never forget” on the inside of his bib number to honor all those lost in the horrific event. Tuka’s PR (and national record) prior to this was 1:44.19



3. Kyle Merber Runs 7:52 PR in 3K

With the pacer running 20 meters ahead of the field the entire race, a fast time was out of the question. What wasn’t out of the question was a fast finish. The lone American Kyle Merber sat in the middle of the tight pack of nine as they came through the bell lap in 6:55. After fighting for position with the field during the final 200, Merber swung out to lane two and started the charge for home. His time of 7:52.95 wasn’t good enough for the win, but it was good for a new PR. Abdiwak Tura, an 18-year-old from Ethopia would edge out his spanish competitor Adel Mechaal in a time of 7:52.04 for the win.


4. Melissa Bishop Navigates Large Field To Win 800m

After taking second place at the Canadian National Championships just a week ago, 800m specialist Melissa Bishop came back to win her first European race of the summer. In a very large field (perhaps too large) of 13 athletes toeing the starting line, Bishop came through the first lap midway through the pack. American Chanelle Price took the lead after the pacer dropped. With 200 to go Price still led, with Bishop starting to move her way up through the pack. With less than 50m to go Bishop found herself boxed in behind four athletes. All in a matter of seconds, she swung out into lane three, lost her momentum, got it back and edged out Price to take the win in 2:00.13


5. 18-year-old Abdalelah Haroun Edges Out David Verburg in 400m

Abdalelah Haroun, The youngster from Qatar looked years ahead of himself as he edged out the US Outdoor Champion David Verburg with a time of 44.63 to Verburg's 44.72. Just a few days prior in Switzerland, Haroun set the junior World leading time in the 400m at 44.27. Saudi Arabian Athlete Yousef Ahmed Masrahi took 3rd place in a time of 44.79. Micahel Berry finished 7th in a time of 45.44.
