Mo Farah Wins Great North Run in New British Record

Mo Farah won the Great North Run this morning in 59:22, a new British half marathon record.

2014 London Marathon runner-up Stanley Biwott, who holds a 58:56 half marathon personal best, led for most of the race. Farah unleashed the kick that recently won him 5000m and 10,000m gold in Beijing over the final stretch to take his second consecutive Great North victory.

Farah's run just clipped his previous British record of 59:32 set in Lisbon earlier this year.

Mary Keitany also repeated as the women’s champion, running 1:07.32 over Gemma Steel. Keitany is the second-fastest woman all-time over half marathon and marathon and was left unchallenged in the race, finishing over three minutes ahead of Steel (1:11:00).
