IAAF Female Athlete Of The Year Finalists Announced
Genzebe Dibaba, Dafne Schippers, and Anita Wlodarczyk were selected as the three finalists for the 2015 IAAF World Athlete of the Year award.
Dibaba is coming off an amazing 2015 season where she broke the 1500m world record in Monaco running 3:50.07. The Ethipiona also broke the indoor 5K world record running 14:18.86. At the 2015 IAAF World Championships Dibaba fell short fo the elusive 1500/5K double grabbing gold in the 1500 and bronze in the 5K.
Schippers shocked the sprinting world this year with her championship record win in Beijing running 21.63 for gold. Along with the 200m title she grabbed silver in the 100m setting a Dutch record of 10.81 in the process.
Wlodarczyk went undeafted in the hammer throw this year seeting a new world record of 81.08m in August. The 2015 World Champion is the first and only wamn to ever throw over 80 meters.
The men's finalists are expected to be announced on Wednesday.
