It happened again.

The U.S. men’s 4x100m relay team and the word “heartbreak” have been good buddies since the Americans were stripped of their 2001 World title due to Tim Montgomery’s doping revelations in 2005, as the Red, White, and Blue have now been DQ’d or DNF’d in seven of the last 11 major international competitions. Trouble just seems to follow this group even as the players change— there have been slippery fingers, collisions, and more doping busts, all while Team Jamaica continues to polish their gold medal factory.

A crud third exchange doomed Team USA this time around in Beijing, as Tyson Gay couldnÂ’t get the stick to Mike Rodgers inside the exchange zone. The guys thought they won silver (2nd to Jamaica of course) and took a victory lap to celebrate, only to be told they were DQÂ’d while all four were draped in American flags. [Slaps forehead]
