Indianapolis – Jan. 21, 2016 – HAWI Management, a full service athlete management and consulting agency, today announced its athlete “Class of 2016” along with a number of new consulting clients.
The athletes who have recently signed with the agency include #1 ranked U.S. men’s 800m runner Boris Berian, seven-time All-American mid-distance runner Kirubel Erassa, 2015 50k and 100k World Champion Camille Herron*, sprinter Nicole Leach, 2013 World Championship 800m bronze medalist Brenda Martinez, race walker Miranda Melville, marathoner Gabe Proctor, and shot put/hammer thrower Jeneva (McCall) Stevens.
New consulting clients are women’s distance running pioneer Kathrine Switzer, American mile legend Jim Ryun, marathon champion Bill Rodgers, world record holding Paralympic athlete Jarryd Wallace, Canadian Olympic hopeful Mariah Kelly, and the Big Bear Track Club, whose members include Berian and Martinez.
HAWI Management was originally created in 2005 to guide the career of three-time Olympian Meb Keflezighi, best known as the only marathoner to win the Boston and New York City Marathons and an Olympic medal. In 2015, Runner’s World Magazine named Meb the Most Influential Person in Running.
“I am so excited to announce these great additions to HAWI Management,” said Merhawi ‘Hawi’ Keflezighi, principal and founder of HAWI Management. “It is so rewarding to apply my 10 years of experience working with my brother Meb to benefit more athletes.”
In the past two years, the agency has brought on athletes Leo Manzano, Maggie Vessey, Alexi Pappas, Kennedy Kithuka and Katie Zaferes*, while providing consulting services to Lumo Bodytech, the Bix 7 Road Race, and helping to co-found the USA Half Marathon. HAWI Management has also added John Hricay as Director of Operations.
“I am confident that HAWI Management now has the bandwidth to provide excellent services to our expanding client base,” said Keflezighi. “I am honored by the athletes’ and consulting clients’ selection of our agency and am dedicated to their success.”
