Meg and Taylor talk with Michigan State All-American Rachele Schulist. The fifth-year senior recently took to Instagram to open up about her personal experience with body image, confidence, and running in an unhealthy state.
"The idea that you have to look a certain way and be thin to be a fast runner is bullshit," Schulist said in her post. "It's a lie that a lot of people in the running community buy into."
In the podcast, Schulist recounts her personal experiences of winning the NCAA team championship in 2014, getting injured in 2015, learning to accept herself as a new and healthier runner in 2016, as well as the powerful responses she has received since sharing her story on social media.
She told us that "what you look like doesn't define your success. I wasn't successful because I was small in 2014, I was successful despite that…I wasn't giving enough credit to my coaches and my training when I was putting it all on one aspect of myself."
