Damari Dean, 8, of the Full Stride Track Club in Contra Costa and Solano County (Ca.), will compete in his second national competition after performing at the USATF Pacific Association Junior Olympic Championships in 2016. In his first opportunity at national competition, Dean was sixth in the 100m and seventh in the 400m. But experience should play well for the developing Dean this time around. He enters the AAU Junior Olympic Games as one of the top seeds in all three of his events. The Full Stride Track Club coaches athletes from ages 5 to 18. Dean owns the club's 100m, 200m and 400m records in the 7-8 division and is second in the 800m (2:48.73).
