NEW ORLEANS—The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is restructuring and expanding its communications office, in order to continue serving its membership and growing track & field and cross country.

Tom Lewis is now the Director of Media, Broadcasting, and Analytics, his protégé Kyle Terwillegar takes over as Director of Communications, and new hire Dennis Youngcomes aboard as Communications Assistant.
“I’m excited about the expansion and restructuring of our communications office,” USTFCCCA CEO Sam Seemes said. “Giving Tom and Kyle broader roles and hiring Dennis will allow us to shine a brighter spotlight on the great work done by our member coaches and their student-athletes. Creative media coverage is vital for growing track & field in this country, and we look forward to playing our part.”
In their short tenure together as the communications office, Lewis and Terwillegar have used USTFCCCA.org and TFRRS to make data and information on collegiate athletes more easily accessible than ever before. They also pioneered the first broadcast of TrackTown Live at this year’s NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships.
In his new role, Lewis is responsible for overseeing the communications staff and all external operations of the Association relating to media, broadcasting, and the public. He also processes analytics related to Association business, and he manages the USTFCCCA InfoZone – an online portal containing meet information, historical data, and all-time lists.
Lewis also serves as the main producer of The Bowerman award ceremony and the Coaches Hall of Fame induction ceremony held at the Association’s annual convention.
As Director of Communications, Terwillegar will run the national office’s outreach, including rankings, meet coverage, and awards. He manages USTFCCCA.org and directly oversees every channel of social media presence.
The duo is joined in New Orleans by Young, who will work under Lewis and Terwillegar as Communications Assistant, covering the sport and expanding the Coaches Association’s presence. Young spent this past summer a correspondent for Flotrack, covering the IAAF Diamond League and the NCAA Division I and III national championships. He was most recently the head assistant coach at Aurora University in Aurora, Ill.
Young is a 2012 graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., where he received his secondary teaching certification and a B.A. in political science. He ran on the cross country and track & field teams there, taking pride in being equally mediocre at every event from 800 to 8000 meters.
