Analysis:
Coach Karen Harvey has a pipeline to the UK that has reaped great benefits for her over the years she has been in Tallahassee. Her projected top five find three British standouts, one Australian, and All-American Colleen Quigley.

Quigley had to sit out last track season with an injury, but she was sixth last year in Indiana at the big race, and her second place 9:38 in the 2013 NCAA 3k steeple shows that her talent level is up there with any women in the country.

Hannah Walker had a bit of a nightmare in her first NCAA cross with a poor showing at 98th. She has won the British University Colleges Cross Country Championship and was 12th in the European Championship race, so it is obvious that last year was an anomaly for her. She did run 32:56 for 10k on the track last spring and she should be ready to show people on this side of the pond what she is capable of on grass.

Australian Linden Hall came through last season with a quality 48th in Terre Haute and ran very well on the track as exhibited by her  PR of 4:15 for 1500m and her 3rd place in the NCAA Track Championship 1500m in 2014. Look for the girl from Melbourne to race tough when it matters.

Senior Brit Pippa Wolven had a breakthrough track season, running a monster PR of 9:47 3k steeple while competing for England in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. If she brings that to FSU this fall, look for her to be a major contributor to Harvey’s cross team.

Still another British girl, freshman Chelsea Jarvis, should round out the top five for the ‘Noles. She has run 4:24 for 1500m and showed a nice turn of speed with a 2:05 800m. The women’s race is only 6k, so that kind of speed can be a real factor at this distance.

Four seniors, all with outstanding credentials, should bring repeat championships in the ACC and the South Region (FSU hosts this year), and it looks very likely that this team can be even better than our projected 6th if a healthy Quigley and a "more like herself” Hannah Walker step up in Indiana.

Coach Karen Harvey’s teams are traditionally very tough minded and extremely competitive. Don’t figure this team to be any different.
