#4 Moment of 2014
No. 5 | No. 4 | No. 3 | No. 2 | No. 1
Every year, there are moments in sports that rise above the status quo of competition. While our win-at-all-costs culture dominates the athletic world, the #4 Moment of 2014 showed us that sports aren’t always so cutthroat, and in fact they can teach us valuable life lessons.
At the 2014 NCAA D1 XC Championships, Anne Marie Dunlap of Baylor began to stumble near the finish line as she succumbed to exhaustion from the race. While she wobbled and crawled her way ever closer to the line, her Baylor teammate Madison Zimmerman picked her up to carry her across the line. As Zimmerman struggled to carry her exhausted teammate, Minnesota’s Kate Bucknam didn’t hesitate to help carry Dunlap across the line. The three girls crossed the finish line simultaneously, proving that kindness and generosity can come in the most unlikely of scenarios.
