Anna Rohrer Earns Gatorade National XC Runner of the Year

Anna Rohrer was named the Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year in a ceremony at her high school in Mishawaka, Ind. on Wednesday morning. Rohrer was presented the award by American record-holder and nine-time All American Molly Huddle.

“It was great to surprise Anna with the Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year award and welcome her into one of the most prestigious legacy programs in high school sports,” Huddle told prnewswire.com. “Gatorade has been on the sidelines fueling athletic performance for years, so to be recognized by a brand that understands the game and truly helps athletics perform is a huge honor for these kids.”

After returning from an injury that sidelined the senior for a whole year, Rohrer returned in the fall to win her second Foot Locker Nationals title in San Diego’s Balboa Park in a time of 17:13.00. Rohrer captured her first Foot Locker title in 2012 as a sophomore with a time of 17:24.80.

Other than Nike Oregon Project’s Jordan Hasay, Rohrer is just the second high school girl in history to win the national title twice in non-consecutive years.

Rohrer is now a finalist for the Gatorade Female High School Athlete of the Year award to be presented at a ceremony prior to The ESPY Awards in July.
