The athletes of the SEC are converging in Lexington, Kentucky this weekend for the conference championship. The Kentucky Wildcats’ 300m track will host some fast time and exciting races, but if you don’t have time to watch them all here are some suggestions.

6 EVENTS TO WATCH:

Men’s 60m
Jalen Miller of Mississippi leads the way with the 6.55 he ran last month at the Armory Invitational, which also puts him 3rd in the NCAA. Will he get caught by Tennessee’s Christian Cameron, who’s right behind him at 6.58?

Women’s 800m
Right now it looks like anyone’s race. Senior Chrishuna Williams of Arkansas has the top time with a 2:05.00, but there are three underclassmen who are less than a second behind her.

Men’s Triple Jump
Will last year’s NCAA outdoor champion do it again? Marquis Dendy of Florida is a senior now, and he’s got a bit of cushion with his 17.23m mark from the Tyson Invitational. But anything could happen – will he be outdone by Aggie Latario Collie (16.69m) or Rebel Phillip Young (16.09m)?

Women’s Mile
Last year’s top three finishers have graduated, but this year Arkansas senior Dominique Scott’s 4:32.48 gives her a four second gap on the rest of the field. Scott has been crushing it in the 3000m and 5000m as well, but if she decides to run the mile she’ll have to fend off teammates Therese Haiss and Jessica Kamilos who ran a 4:36.31 and 4:36:56 respectively at the UW Husky Invitational.

Men’s DMR
Arkansas had a strong showing at the Alex Wilson Invitational, running a 9:28.37 which earned them a fourth place ranking in the NCAA. But Alabama wasn’t far behind with their 9:29.93. We’re guessing the race will be just as competitive now that points are on the line.

Women’s Pentathlon
8 of the current top 10 pentathletes in the NCAA come from this conference. Who will challenge Kendell Williams of Georgia, who leads the nation and SEC with 4609 points?

MEN'S TEAM BATTLE:

The Favorite
The Florida Gators are in the mix in so many events, and with NCAA leaders like Najee Glass in the 400m (45.34) and Marquis Dendy in the triple jump (17.23m), the team has plenty of leadership to guide them to victory.

The Contender
Texas A&M could steal the show. Like Florida, they’ve got Aggies in scoring position across the board. Their strong 3:03.23 4x400 team paired with Shavez Hart in the 200m (20.57)  and 400m duo Deon Lendore (45.38) and Bralon Taplin (45.39) puts them within striking distance.

The Dark Horse
Arkansas was crowned winnerin 2014, but they have some work to do this year if they want a repeat. Kemoy Campbell and Stanley Kebenei will lock in points in distance events like the 3000m and 5000m, and Omar McLeod has a chance to win the 60 hurdles. Here’s hoping the Razorbacks put up a fight this weekend.

Flotrack’s Pick
Everyone loves to root for the underdogs, but we think Florida will seal the deal. They’ve got some stars on their squad, and they seem to have too many in scoring position to fail.

WOMEN'S TEAM BATTLE:

The Favorite
The Razorback women have scoring contenders in almost every event, and going into the meet these ladies hold the top spots in the 400m all the way up to the 3000m. They may not win them all, but their strong distance team led by seniors Dominique Scott and Diane Robinson will surely bring in a lot of points.

The Contender
The Florida Gators were the champions last year, and their DMR and 4x4 will definitely challenge Arkansas for the win. While their distance team isn’t as strong as it’s been in the past, their sprinters have run well and the trio of Destinee Gauze, Kyra Jefferson and Robin Reynolds will likely score points in the 200m and 400m events.

The Dark Horse
The Aggies came in second last year, and we bet this year they want vengeance. They’re in prime position to pick up points in the 3000m and 5000m races with seniors Grace Fletcher and Hillary Montgomery. But the sprint side has to really get after it if they want to make a mark this year.

Flotrack’s Pick
If Arkansas keeps doing what they’ve been doing all season, they’ll clinch the conference title.
