Remona Burchell of the University of Alabama set the collegiate record in the 60m dash at the Southeastern Conference Championships at the University of Kentucky.

Her time of 7.08 broke the previous record of 7.09 set by Angela Williams of USC in 2001 (a mark that was tied by Lakya Brookins of South Carolina in 2011).

Burchell, the 2014 60m and 100m NCAA champion, beat Kentucky’s Dezerea Bryant, the 2014 SEC 60m champion and indoor 200m NCAA champion, by a full tenth of second.

The Alabama senior is undefeated during 2015 and is the favorite heading into the NCAA Championships in two weeks. Her time is the second fastest in the world this year, behind Murielle Ahoure’s 7.05 run at the Millrose Games.
