The latest edition to the B.A.A. High Performance Team will be 2014 NCAA 10K Champion Emma Bates. Bates joins the squad in Boston after concluding a notable career at Boise State where she earned 12 All American honors.

“I am overjoyed to be given the opportunity to run for the B.A.A. Knowing the strong history behind the Boston Athletic Association and the people involved made the decision easy,” Bates said, according to a Team B.A.A. release. “I am looking forward to making the B.A.A. and the rest of Boston proud to support me leading into the Olympic year of 2016, and beyond.”

Bates joins the team coached by Terrence Mahon that includes three-time Olympian Jenn Rhines, Katie Matthews, Elaina Balouris, Juliet Bottorff, Sarah Pagano, Emily Lipari, and Cydney Ross.

“As a team, we eagerly look forward to Emma’s transition from collegiate to professional runner as part of the B.A.A.’s High Performance team,” said Mahon.

While competing for Boise State, Bates earned an NCAA title in the 10K at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships, and most recently finished eighth in the 5K and 10th in the 10K at the 2015 championships. She finished third overall at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Championships, her second consecutive year finishing in the top three.

Bates also made a statement on the track with her "Sandlot" movie-themed singlet while competing at the USATF Outdoor Championships.
