BEIJING - World Championship bronze medalist Tori Bowie is out of contention to compete as a member of the Team USA 4x100m relay team.

The 100m runner was taken out of consideration for the relay pool after missing the Team USA relay camp in Monaco mid-July as well as the training camp in Narita, Japan before the World Championships this month.

According to USATF, the athletes were required to attend both camps in order to ensure quality practices for exchanges and relay technique. Bowie chose not to attend both camps prior to the championships.

“Tori Bowie’s representatives informed us that she would not compete in Monaco and later said she would not be moving forward with the relay process or attending camp in Narita. We moved forward, practicing with and planning for the athletes in attendance. We look forward to our relays taking the track on Saturday,” Jill Geer, USATF Chief Public Affairs Officer wrote in a statement.

Bowie competed in the 100m final on August 24 where she ran her way to a bronze medal in 10.86, just 0.4 away from silver medalist Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands and 0.10 away from Jamaica’s World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

The Team USA relay pool includes Dezerea Bryant, Allyson Felix, English Gardner, Kaylin Whitney, Jenna Prandini, and Jasmine Todd

Bryant was a member of the 2012 World Junior Championship 4x100m relay team and most recently won an NCAA title in the 200m. Felix has been a member of two World Championship 4x100m relay squads and took home her first 400m World Championship last night. Gardner was a key member of the World Championship squad that took home silver in 2013. 17-year-old Whitney anchored the 2014 World Junior Championship team to a winning time of 43.46 in Eugene, Oregon last year. Prandini competed in the 200m semi-final Thursday in Beijing while Todd competed in both the long jump and 100m.
