Calling all Austinites,   On Sept 15th, a friend and colleague, Justin Gabriel, had a serious accident that put him into a coma. Justin ran at Adams State and works in my town of Austin at Runtex. He also filmed for the Austin Distance Challenge Website. He is a great guy and a lot of fun. Justin is staying at Cambridge Hospital in Austin, Tx for a couple more days and then the plan is to move him to a rehab center. I woke up to some very sad news this morning in my inbox. Adam Jacobs of TheFinalSprint.com passed away at the young age of 24. David Monti of Race Results Weekly let the community know of the news. Mary and the NYRR have done quite a bit for our sport. I was in Cali this weekend talking to Jorge Torres and he mentioned how Mary and the NYRR donate funds to their group in Boulder and how appreciative he was for their help. Athletes need coaches but coaches need to get paid and a lot of the times our runners have a hard time surviving it is hard for the coaches.
