FloAwards Preseason Rankings

Welcome to the 2008 FloAwards Preseason Rankings Page brought to you by the Flotrack NCAA XC panel. We say preseason because teams cannot start paving their way to the NCAA Championships until the weekend of September 27th when points can start being accumulated (more on this in the coming weeks).

Every week Flotrack will come out with top 3 rankings for teams, individuals, and Flotrack freshman of the year. From this point forward, votes will come from the Flotrack NCAA XC panel and YOU, the community!

So comment below to give us your votes for each category every week.

Schaaf is Canadian and I think this was for America High School Frosh. She is wicked good and watch out for Washington this year. Bab may be #1 but probably will be the #2 frosh at Washington.

Come On Now   September 18, 2008 at 6:40am
Tanner, Do you realize what kind of high school career Colby Lowe had. 7 time state champ. Ran at Foot Locker 3 times. Finished 4th his senior year. Took 2nd at NTN last year. Took 2nd at NIN 2 mile, and 3rd in the NON 2 mile.... If he isn't there then thats stupid. He has a legit shot at making the top 7 at OSU..

Then look at Puskedra. Don't really see him running this Fall. He will probally red shirt. Like all of the ducks do when they first get there.

Vig Bias   September 17, 2008 at 10:33pm
Hey Ben, if by "Vig Bias" you mean that flocast thinks the already successful program at UVA will continue to excel with a great coach, then yea, I guess they are ... Same thing would happen if any successful coach took over an already legit program. Oh wait, it did happen when Vin L. took over at Oregon after they had failed to make NCAA's with very talented runners. Bias, no ... just making a good prediction based on history.

so then this is basically a D1 award prediction...? you guys need to look into doing something with D2 and D3. there are great runners in those divisions as well you know. i, along with many others, would appreciate it if flotrack could work up 2 more award panels for the other 2 divisions. thanks, preciate it.

Jager moved out to Portland with Teg and Solinsky to train under Shumacher, who left Wisconsin. Thus, he is going pro, getting sponsored by Nike. There is a podcast that trackshark.com did with him. Go have a listen to it. Questionable move considering he only has 1 All-American honors credited to him - but obviously believes in Jerry too much to let him go.

-take out virginia from the honorable mention (*cough* vig bias *cough*). throw in michigan.

-i think the oregon women are a surer bet to win than the oregon men.
-i don't think it's even worth talking about the colorado women. they were abysmal (by their standards) last year. washington needs some love.
-really curious about what barringer decides. highly doubtful she stays for a fifth year, so saving elligibility probably isnt an issue. but the team would be even more lost w/o her. ..

Shadrack Songok, Texas A&M should be # 1, he is from Kenya and he is the best runner we have this year in DI. I think Galen Rupp is over-ratted because Shadrack got 6th because of the weather. he's from Texas.

On the Women's side, I believe Melissa Grelli is now in Grad School at Oregon.
