What's to see in D3 - Winter Break

All across the country student-athletes are heading into Winter Break or Holiday Break or whatever it is their school calls it. Since I am no longer in college, I do not have this luxury, however my Flotracking has had a bit of a break since the cross country season came to a close, and so I have missed about 2 weeks of indoor action.

This article is less of an actual article and more of me simply reaching out to you the readers. Indoor track is a much different beast than XC in terms of covering the events. While there are national rankings released, they are not very accurate and it does not make much sense to simply follow these top teams from head to toe, causing me to miss some of the top performances of the week. Another way to do it would be to check out the performance list, and let you know who hit qualifying marks in the previous week. This to me seems like a good bet, although most of you could do this yourself by visiting raceberryjam.com.

So then what is it that you the readers would like to see. I can tell you one thing, Interviews will be much more common during the track seasons, including one in the works that I know many of you have been wanting for a while (I know this because some of you have emailed me/facebooked me asking me to interview this person). However, interviews are not enough to go into the depth of D3 indoor and outdoor track.

So I ask you while I gear up for the track seasons to come, when winter break is over and teams hit the tracks be they banked or flat in mid january, how would you like to hear about it?

Happy Holidays to everyone

DeJuna - I am not in charge of the website, but rather this article which strictly covers NCAA D3 running

I think you should definitely give high school track & field a little more attention.
I'd sure like to come to this website rather than dyestat for my results.

Hey guys,

great input, I really appreciate it and keep it coming.
I plan on highlighting the performances that reach the provo and auto marks (noting of course those that surpass the last qualifier from 2007). The only thing is that the best place to receive this data is not always updated by sunday evening. Perhaps I can move the article to another day of the week, or some (a small portion) will be a week late.
Interviews - I tried to alternate male and female during XC and I also tried to never repeat a region (succeeded in both). Now that we are into track, I am going to hit the regions I missed, and try to get throwers, jumpers (vertical and horizontal), and sprinters, not just distance runners (although there will be some too).
Workouts - I would love to do this but there is one problem. I am located in Delaware and my travel is limited as I am not Ryan and Mark. What I encourage you all to do is film videos of workouts, and upload them yourselves or send me footage and I can edit them and either get Ryan to include them as part of workout wednesdays or connect them to my article each week.
Thanks again,
Dan

Yeah i dont know if you guys look at Runnin' Time Mag. but there was a great article about some Iowa teams (Grinnell and Wartburg). I think that would be cool if you got some race coverage, interviews, winter workouts; over here in the midwest/central areas.

yeah, interviews for sure, DIII workouts would be sweet if possible. I would say mostly interviews of athletes and coaches, and any stacked races would be nice to watch!

Thanks

Provisional and Auto qualifiers should be mentioned for each meet if possible. That would be great.

An interview with Al Winsley from Mississippi College. This guy's a monster in D-III he hit the B standard for the Olympics in indoor last year with a jump of I think 7'3". The guy is an amazing talent.
