This weekend was full of excitement in the running world, ranging from USA Cross Country Championships to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. I will highlight some of the DII performances, but as usual if there is any performance I have missed, please comment. Also, if there are any meets next weekend that you think should be included in my next article, let me know. USA Cross Country Championships- Shippensburg’s Neely Spence won the junior women’s 6k race with time of 20:43. New Balance Collegiate Invitational- In the women’s mile, Spence’s Shippensburg teammate, Abigail Huber, ran a solid race, running a preliminary qualifying time of 5:03.90. Queen’s Tanya Zeferjahn ran an automatic qualifying time of 16:54.98 in the women’s 5k. Her teammate, Meagan Nedlo, ran a provisional time of 17:27.28 in the same event. Shippensburg’s (3:52.77) and Lincoln’s (3:54.72) women’s 4x400 meter teams provisionally qualified. Millersville’s Distance Medley relay came in second with a provisional qualifying time of 11:57.12. In the men’s 800m, Queen’s Devin Kelley ran a provisional qualifying time of 1:54.42. Shippensburg’s Bryan Beegle ran a 14:26.38 in the men’s 5k, also hitting a provisional qualifying time. Queen’s Michael Crouch came in second in the men’s 3k with a time of 7:57.79. Stonehill’s Torrey Price ran a provisional qualifying time of 6.83 in men’s 60 meter dash. In the men’s 60 meter hurdles, East Stroudsburg’s Russell Smith ran a provisional qualifying time of 8.25 and Lincoln’s Jermaine Morris ran an automatic qualifying time of 7.97. Texas Tech University- Abilene Christian had many qualifying performances. The duo of Ramon Sparks (15.06) and Gerald Chenyi (14.87) provisionally qualified in the men’s long jump. In the pole vault, Landon Ehlers vaulted 5.05m for an automatic qualifying mark. Wanda Hudson won the women’s 55 meter dash with an automatic qualifying time of 6.96. Julius Nyango won the men’s mile in a time of 4:16.63. Ray Radway ran a provisional qualifying time of 48.17 in the men’s 400 meters. Kim Prather ran an automatic qualifying time of 24.26 in the women’s 200 meters. Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational- Emporia State’s Katie Mona won the women’s mile in 4:58.75, good for a provisional qualifying time. Concordia’s Bethany Sutton ran a 2:17.48 in the 800 meters for a second place. Nebraska-Omaha’s Pinar Saka won the women’s 400 meters in an automatic qualifying time of 53.04. Pittsburg State’s Venessa Lee ran an automatic qualifying time of 2:12.58 in the women’s 800 meters. On the men’s side, Concordia’s Michael Saalfield ran a 1:51 automatic qualifying time in the 800 meters. |
