Welcome To Iten, KenyaVIVA Colombia, Pasto, y Narino. GraciasHere are some points to help you follow my vid. 1. The town in the speedup is a shopping area in Iten, the Mecca of Kenyan distance running. Out of a population of just over 2000, 800 - 1000 are high level distance runners. 2. The rainy season happens every year from March to June and is torrential almost every day. Kenyans do not run in the rain!! They wait until it stops. 3. The boy in the video is Kipchumba Chirchir, he runs/walks 5k to and from school every day and herds cows and does chores after school. An example of what kind of life the past champions led. 4. Kenyans always run in groups, so if someone is having a bad day they are pulled along and energized by the group, this also leads to lots of friendly competition. 5. Workouts. Speed work on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday at Kamariny track, the main track in Iten. Large amounts of people show up on Tuesday morning, up to 200 at once. 6. The race was the 800 finals at the KCC opener in Nyayo stadium in Nairobi. Asbel Kiprop did the 800, his first track race of the season and managed a 1.45 at 1800m altitude. What was even more amazing is that about 7 Kenyans behind him ran 1.46 / 1.47. Wow.... K I hope you enjoy. If I win, I will be taking my friend Kibet Rutto who I lived with during my time in Kenya. He has lived a life of poverty as a new Kenyan runner. It will be a great experience for him. Video submitted by Francis Coral - Mellon on May 11, 2008 Total Votes = 7810 |

2nd Annual David Torrence Downhill Mile***READ FOR BACKSTORY***Here's the thread that sparked the original: http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=1134264&page=0 Here's the time trial: http://www.flocasts.org/flotrack/flotrackr/videos.php?a=video_show&show=&vid=41291 And here's the First Annual David Torrence Downhill Mile (warning, slight profanity): http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7173499000559208805 What you are now watching, is the sequel to those events... "In the 2nd year of this world-famous event, David Torrence finally encounters some challengers. Kevin Davis (Clutch) seems to be on a roll with his recent victories in the December Dream Mile as well as the Beer Mile, and is attempting the unprecedented, unheard of, unbelievable "Triple Crown". Michael Coe (The Raptor) and Peter are the rookie biotches of the bunch...but you can never count out the weasely type. Eric Lee is lacking in downhill experience, but he IS a seasoned veteran in badassness. While Tony Viviani (aka Jules)...is...well...just listen to 5:34 in. Hope you enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed running it." Video submitted by David Torrence on April 17, 2008 Total Votes = 219 |

Steeple Practice Water Jump FallI decided to tape my own steeplechase practice one day to get some footage for a biomechanics research project I was doing on the event. To put it simply, this clip really didn't help me much with my project, per se, as far as giving me a good jump to analyze. But it made it onto AFV and has since given my athletes plenty of reason to laugh at their coach. Do as I say, not as I do... ;-)Video submitted by Matthew Barreau on March 4, 2008 Total Votes = 125 |

UC Santa Cruz Cross Country Club Team 2007This is a super-serious representation of our team which we take very seriously. Actually, it's more of a mockumentary style following in comedic traditions somewhat similar to 'The Office', 'Drop Dead Gorgeous', etc, that also prominently features such ridonkulous elements as 'dry humor', 'extreme sarcasm', 'satire on Flotrack itself as a cultural institution', 'real actual douchebags named Will Justice', and 'remixes of the typical lame team video, videos trying too hard to be funny, narcissistic assholes, people definitely pretending they are way faster and cooler than they actually are in real life', etc. Thank You.Video submitted by Will Justice on February 14, 2008 Total Votes = 81 |
