Jebreh Harris has taken the road less traveled to becoming the 2nd ranked 800m runner in the US in 2006. Harris went to high school in Decatur Georgia and took a scholarship to a small school in Alabama, where he focused on the 400m. The 400m runner turned his attention to the 800m after he stepped on the campus of the University of Tennessee. In Knoxville Jebreh met his current coach, George Watts. Coach Watts loved Jebreh?s speed and knew he would be perfect for the 800 meters. While at Tennessee Jebreh earned All-American Status and went to nationals Outdoors twice, unfortunately he missed the final on both occasions. Harris did not receive a professional contract after he graduated from Tennessee in 2001, so he had to juggle working, paying the bills, training and racing and it almost got the best of him. In 2004 Harris shocked some people when he made the Olympic final and led that final for a majority of the race. Ever since the Olympic trials final Harris has been moving up the US rankings, and in 2006 he finished third at USAs, which earned him a second place ranking. Jebreh continues to train at his alma mater of Tennessee, where he is an assistant coach under his current coach, George Watts.
