Gunn, originally from England, went to college at Birmingham before coming over to the states to join the Florida State Seminoles. He had two years of eligibility when he got to FSU but was granted a '6th year' for the 2008-2009 season. After finishing a disappointing 3rd place in the NCAA Outdoor Steeplechase, Gunn made it his goal to come back and win the title in '09.
