Amy Lia the 2006 1500 NCAA Champion was not highly recruited out of high school but she has become one of the best mid-distance runners in the country. Amy kicked past a stunned field over the last lap to win the 1500 meter crown. Amy earned All-American honors the year before as well when she finished 12th. Amy has struggled with injuries over her UW career and she has only once made to the starting line at NCAAs healthy. In 2003 she was one of four freshman that guided the Huskies to a 19th place finish.
