After only one year of taking the job the ASU women were standing on the podium at NCAA's with a 4th place finish. The following indoor season Quintana coached his first national champion. Amy Hastings surprised everyone when she won the NCAA 5,000m. Amy was one of three women to earn All-American honors during the 2006 indoor season. Louie coached his second NCAA champion during the 2006 outdoor season when Victoria Jackson won the 10,000M. The men's program has had its share of success as well. In 2004 the men's cross country team finished in the top ten lead by All-American Aaron Aguayo who placed 22nd in the race.

During Louie's time at ASU he has developed a strong steeplechase program. The ASU women have had 6 consecutive PAC-10 champions in the steeplechase. As for the men's squad, Aaron Aguayo has claimed the PAC-10 steeplechase event for the past 3 years.
