Since Mark Stanforth began coaching at the Air Force Academy in 1992, he has guided the Falcons to four NCAA appearances in cross-country on the men?s side and four NCAA Div II on the women?s side. In 2003 the Falcons had their best finish since 1967 by finishing 8th in the country. In cross-country Stanforth has guided six runners to All-American honors. In 1994 and 1996 Stanforth and the falcons won the WAC; in 2000 they won the WMC conference. Before arriving in Colorado Springs, Stanforth coached 5 years at the University of California-San Diego where 37 athletes earned All-American honors. Prior to Coach Stanforth, San Diego never had a Track and Field All-American. Stanforth has brought success to every College and every level. Stanforth has coached a cross-country team to nationals in Div I, II, III and NJCAA. Personal success on the track is also part of Stanforth?s experience. His personal credits include earning 11 letters during college and winning the Chicago Marathon.
