Jake Arnold went from walk on to NCAA champ in four short years. Arnold?s career has been plagued by injuries but the 2006 season proved that he is one of the best decathletes in the country. 2006 was a stellar season for Arnold, he finished fifth indoors and then capped off the season by taking the crown at the NCAA outdoor championship. Arnold also finished third at the 2006 US championships and set the school record for the Heptathlon. Arnold walked on to the track team at Arizona and did not have a great deal of success at the national scene until his 2006 breakout season.
